A Really Quick Card

Hey y'all... sorry I haven't been posting these last few days. I haven't been feeling well, nor have I had the time to create, but I thought I'd better post something, so I grabbed one of my digi images and made up a quick card to share. This cute li'l guy was a freebie from Digital Delights by Louby Lou. They have a free digi every Friday HERE.

This card totally needs some stitching on it... or something, but it's really late and my sewing machine is right on the other side of the wall from my DD's bed. I don't have a saying yet for him either, especially nothing in stamps, so I will print something off the computer and add to this later. Now I need to go hit the sack. I'm so glad you came by today! Her challenge to us is to create a card to let someone know you are thinking of them or praying for them. I really needed this challenge this week, so I made not one but two cards (and will prolly make more this week!) Here's my first one.

This Scripture she chose is a prayer that I (and every Christian) should have in our hearts and minds as we aim to glorify the Lord in all that we do and say. I'm ashamed to admit that I have said things at times that I know were not pleasant or "acceptable in the sight of the Lord" so this is a good reminder. I made a "Thinking of you" card as well as a "Praying for You" card. I hope you like them?

Good Saturday morning!! I just got this super cute new Tilda with Strawberries stamp (from the Lazy Days of Summer Collection) from KL Stampin' N Scrappin, but to go with my theme I covered up the strawberries with Flower Soft and made this a blossoming card for my 10 yr. old daughter. She's proving to be such a beautiful person on the inside and I just felt like letting her know how proud I am of her.

Thursday is Free Digi Day!

Happy Thursday everyone!! If you hop on over to Sweet n' Sassy Stamps, you can grab this cute squirrel digi for FREE.... so hurry as it won't be available for free come Friday morning!! Korin and her team of artists have been busy at work creating some super fun digis and stamp sets for Fall and Christmas, take a look around while you're there.

For my card, I printed onto watercolor paper and used my heat gun to dry the ink. Then I colored the image with my SU! markers and blended with a water pen. Then I masked the image and sponged the sky and grass. I think this paper is from the October Afternoon collection at Jacksonbelle Embellishments. Then I sewed it onto some Copper SU! cardstock and then adhered onto Hunter textured card base. Sorry about the lighting on it...was hard to get a spot out on the picnic table that was completely shaded. =0) Thanks for stopping by!! Meet Shy Little Nickie

Nickie is a brand new character that was released recently at Inky Impressions!! I want to say thank you to Nicole for sending me this "Shy Little Nickie" stamp along with some super cute li'l ribbon flowers, a charm and a couple of the new sentiment stamps --all for making up some blinkies for our recent blog hop and sneak peeks! What a happy mail day!! =0) Thank so much Nicole!

So I inked her up and followed this week's Mojo Monday sketch! I dug out my old SU! color, Marvelous Magenta--LOVE that color, especially paired with black and teal! I also cuttle embossed the magenta with the argile folder. I had to kind of turn my image layer, but you can still see the sketch here. I watercolored Nickie and add lots of stardust glitter gellyroll pens for highlights to her scarf, roses, bows, button on shoe and of course her eyeshadow. It really doesn't look like this IRL. I have a light magenta color down first and then the clear glitter pen over it. Here's a close up, although it's not exactly what it looks like IRL either!! LOL. The light is shining right on the glitter here. It's really much more subtle than this. And if any of you tell me I need some make-up lessons... !!!! LOL - yes, I realize the eyeshadow on her right eye is wonky. OOPS!

Lovin' from the Oven

I have a fun project to share today... an altered recipe box! I want to thank Kelly for sending me some stamped images of these adorable new Magnolias from the Little Yummy for Your Tummy collection! I LOVE THEM! I was planning on making a card for today's post, but as I was looking for a recipe yesterday for peach crisp (got some fresh peaches--yum!) I saw this old black recipe box up in the cupboard and I have to say... I've never used it for recipes! Can you believe it? I had it years ago before I got married to file my cash for certain things (food, laundry, rent, etc.) and since then it's just been collecting dust. But not anymore!! I decided to clean it and bling it up! ... and a few hours later... Ta-Da!!

and I even decorated the inside lid and printed the sentiments on my computer. I added some Martha Stewart oval pearls to my EK border and added teal stickles to Tilda's apron and scarf. I attached Edwin to the lid and Tilda to the base with pop dots. The black/white polka dot strip is sheer ribbon on top of the black c.s. from the border, and the DP on the top portion is Lemonade by Basic Grey!

There's a Li'l Cowgirl in All Of Us

Today is another Inky Challenge Wednesday!! All this month we are doing challenges that Nicole loves because it's her birthday month! Today, we are using stitching on our cards. I love using my sewing machine and today I tried a new stitch... the scallop stitch! Sorry for this lighting on my card. I will try to get a better picture later today. Happy Monday!! I've got some exciting news!! Our new Stampin' Sisters in Christ Challenge Blog is looking to add a few Design Team members!! Our challenges are very unique and different in that they are inspired by Scripture!! Everyone is invited to participate... your cards do not have to have scripture on them... just created with the passage in mind! What better way to join our meditations on God's Word with our creative passion?

To enter, please choose a favorite Bible verse, create a challenge inspired by that verse, and show us your creation (in other words, simulate for us what you would do as part of our team). SSCC4 - A Sketch For You

Our scripture is one of my favorites and Lisa chose it this week. It is "Jeremiah 29:11 "For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."

...and the challenge is to use this sketch (ie. plans!) Great sketch and Genius idea Lisa! ;)

This verse is so powerful and one I have memorized and treasure. It reminds me that God is so much bigger than my little world...my problems...my little plan for my own life! When things start to crumble around me and I don't understand why things are happening, God has a PLAN! And HIS plans are always so much better than mine! He gives blessings upon blessings that I never saw coming! Our God is an awesome God!

I created 2 cards again this week. I love how easy and versatile this sketch is! I also got some cute new stamps and stamped images from KLSNS and Inky Impressions that I wanted to show ;P This first one is Chef Tilda from the Little Yummy for Your Tummy Collection!

SSC Challenge Number 3

...hey, that rhymes, lol =0) Happy Sunday! It's my turn to host this week's Scripture Challenge over at Stampin' Sisters in Christ Challenges, and I hope you'll like this challenge as much as last weeks'? In any case, we have a fabulous new sponsor who's giving a $20 voucher to her new store, McMahon Five Designs. Sue has a variety of things in store including flowers, digi images to download, wooden papers, envy-lopes and more! I was drawn to her store by the unique wood papers... these are not just designer paper made to look like wood, they are actual thinly cut pieces of wood in many different kinds of wood. In fact, her website just got a "Facelift"! Go check it out!!

She also has a blog and offers some fantastic tutorials like how to watercolor digi-images!! I personally used her technique on this cute turtle and it SAVED me! I tried to do this before but since my only medium for coloring is watercolor, I failed miserably. But with her tutorial it worked like a charm! Thanks Sue!! =0)

Okay, on to my cards. I chose to do a Back to School theme this week. After this, please hop on over to our Challenge Blog to read the scripture for today and to see what the other Stampin' Design Sisters have made!

Okay, I came up with this saying and thought it was totally cute! Especially considering some turtles are "Snapping" turtles... and the fact that my 9 and 10 years old girls are now saying that (thanks to the Disney channel!) and if you read today's verse and my challenge, it's about encouraging our children (or teachers)... so I had to laugh at the thought that this card is actually encouraging my kids to make silly excuses to their teachers at school! LOL. What a great example I'm setting huh?! BUT... I can laugh, because I KNOW that they would never actually use this as an excuse! Also, my daughter's 4th grade teacher has a turtle for a classroom pet, so this was perfect for her! :)

And my next card uses Story Time Sophia, my August SOTM club stamp from Paper Pretties! I followed their sketch challenge this week. This winner gets a $15 GC to their store, so my sister and I both participated. It was amazing how much our cards ended up alike! We both used the same stamp, and the same Nesties! Hers is better though and I really hope she wins it this week! (you can see her card on our SSC Challenge Blog). This is perfect for my oldest daughter--she loves to read! This inside sentiment says, "A good book is like a good friend... the best part is on the inside!"
